Fairway

  • Walk, don't run. Running is annoying, distracting and causes damage to the course. Walk quickly but lightly! And sauntering drives the players behind you crazy!

  • Spot your ball - If you lose your ball in flight or on the roll, spot an object (tree, bunker etc) and walk towards that object.

  • Opps! Out of bounds???… and you haven't played another (provisional ball) - place another ball nearby, and take a one-stroke penalty rather than returning to the tee box.

  • Check out other holes - As you go by other holes, check for landing areas, hazards, and pin placements.

  • Repair divots on the fairway - either by filling in the hole with a sand/seed mixture*, or the original divot.*Often the birds on a golf course like to pick up divots for an easy meal so golfers are supplied with a mixture of sand and grass seed to use.

  • Just hit your ball into a fairway bunker? Don't get into a 'hissy-fit' - pretend the sand is short brown grass!
