Have Fun at a Charity Golf Tournament!

Charity golf tournaments are extremely popular ways for non-profit organizations to raise money. Usually, people pay a fee to be involved in a one, two or three-day event, sometimes a half-day event only. The players often get to play alongside local celebrities and expert golfers and there are prizes that can be won which sweeten the deal.

A place to see and be seen - you'll see all sizes, shapes, handicaps and levels of competitors. The scene at the beginning of the tournament is very exciting and chaotic. Lots of cars in the parking lot, golf clubs being unloaded, golfers trying to find team-mates and assigned golf carts, organizers getting people registered.

At a charity tournament you'll be supporting a good cause, and you'll get a chance to network and meet new people. Enjoy the tournament. Follow the tips below!

  1. Dress appropriately for the weather: conservative and comfortable.

  2. Have a few dollars in your pocket for purchases or tips.

  3. Get to the course in good time - 60 to 30 minutes before tee-off.

  4. Meet your teammates, learn the format of the tournament.

  5. Be prepared with accessories: tees, balls, markers and repair tool.

  6. Anticipate other necessities: bug spray, sun screen, water, energy bar.

  7. Warm-up by stretching, hitting a few balls, and putting.

Charity tournaments involve players of all skill levels. Each foursome is usually made up of golfers of varying abilities. If you are a new golfer, relax and do your best. Seasoned players will know how nervous you may be and will be helpful. These golfers will keep score and plan the strategy for the team. Seasoned players also realize that they do not get to play their "normal" game but are part of a team. They can therefore relax and enjoy the ambience of the day.

Charity golf tournaments are feel-good do-good affairs whose popularity are growing. A popular way to help others and have fun playing golf. As an avid golfer, I hope our paths meet on the links. Tee up for Charity!
